Curriculum Specialist

After spending six years at The Little School, Laura took a leave of absence for the 2015-2016 school year to pursue a Master's degree in Education and Human Development through the teacher education program at Boulder Journey School in Boulder, Colorado. This process has been quite a whirlwind, and she is excited to share the things that she has learned with the educators and students at The Little School. Laura earned my BA in English in 2005 from Faulkner University, and promptly started working with three year olds at a local preschool. Since then, she has learned so much about being an intentional, thoughtful teacher from the children and adults alike, and is excited to learn from and support such a community of like minded people! Laura lives in Chapel Hill with her husband, Josh, and thier cats, Junie, Jilly, and Leonard. She is a big fan of quirky workplace comedies, reading the same books over and over again, strolling through the woods, and going on grocery store adventures.

Sasha Harris, M.Ed.

Staff Recruitment and Development

Sasha is so gratified to be an integral part of The Little School’s leadership as a career educator with thirteen years of experience inside and outside of classrooms. He is originally from Western Massachusetts where he had the good fortune to experience some first-rate educational institutions both independent and public. In 1995 Sasha graduated from the University of Rochester with a B.A. in Film and an interest in the visual and performing arts. As a working professional, he completed his Masters in Education at Brooklyn College. Sasha’s family first came into contact with The Little School at Duke when his daughter was enrolled in Ms. Marybeth’s Grasshopper class. A year later he joined the school as a teacher in the Pre K room. The school’s inspired approaches and nourishing environment convinced him that early childhood education was a valuable platform for innovation. Working with young children and their teachers is an incredible privilege and Sasha has enjoyed helping The Little School become one of the best early childhood centers in North Carolina. In his capacity to recruit, hire, and develop new teachers he is able to help shape the future of the school. It’s a privilege for him to witness, coach, and practice this school’s amazing philosophies. Sasha looks forward to sharing his enthusiasm for the Reggio Emilia Approach and Conscious Discipline to the staff at the Little School every day.
