MaryBeth: Office Manager

Marybeth was born and raised in Bayport, NY on Long Island and is the youngest daughter of 8 children.  She became an Aunt when she was 8, and growing up around young children helped steer her toward her current career.  Being part of a large family included always being surrounded by family and friends, which helped to instill the values of family and community.  Her love of children grew and she has been working in this field since 1998.  From the moment she peered through the windows at the original Little School, she knew this school was the right fit for her. She joined The Little School in 2010 when the Hillsborough campus at Waterstone was built and joined the family at Duke in May 2013. Her roles at TLS have included Lead Teacher, Behavioral Specialist and Pedagogista for our Infants and Toddlers.

In her spare time, she enjoys relaxing at the lake and spending time at home with her boyfriend and dog. She also loves visiting with family and friends and traveling whenever possible.


Taresa has been working with children since 2003 and is looking forward to many more experiences. She also enjoys two children of her own, Brian and Jayde. Taresa graduated from Person Senior High School located in Roxboro, NC. She also attended school at Piedmont Community College. She loves drawing, singing, and most importantly spending time with her family. Taresa is very easy going and loves to think outside the box. She always finds herself striving to do the best she can and make a difference. Taresa considers every experience to be a learning experience.

Chris: Head Chef

Chris was born near Hartford, CT.  He found his way down to North Carolina and received his BA in Biology from UNC-CH.  He has nearly 30 years of experience in food service.  Chris was the kitchen manager at the famous Flying Burrito in Chapel Hill for 8 years.  He was a line chef at Panzanella in Southern Village for 2 years and Head Chef at Town Hall Grill for 7 years, also in Southern Village.  Chris has been married to his lovely wife Erin for 10 years.  He has two sons, Oscar and Benjamin.  Chris enjoys politics, art and science exploration.


Eric: School Chef

Eric was born in Durham, NC and grew up in Pittsboro, NC. Eric spent his youth working in various restaurants in Ferrington. Eric attended Culinary School at Johnson & Wales in Charlotte, NC. After helping open Bleu Restaurant in Winston Salem, he moved to Minneapolis. While in Minneapolis, Eric managed a Local/Organic Food Truck. He moved on to work with the homeless at a rehab center. In 2015, he relocated back to NC. He worked as the Chef/GM at Bean & Barrel in Chapel Hill and at The Farmery in Durham. He resides with his wife, Jenny, and their two dogs.


Oliver: Facilities Manager

Oliver is originally from Mexico but has been living in Raleigh, NC since 1994. He started working at TLS part-time in 2013, then soon joined full-time. Before joining The Little School, he worked years in construction. Oliver and his lovely wife Jeanette have two beautiful children, Kyle and Naomi. He loves to spend time with his family. Oliver loves being part of The Little School family.


Ben: Sous Chef 

Ben was born and raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Ben’s interest in food was piqued while working in gardens. As a result, Ben moved to Boone, North Carolina to attend Appalachian State University’s Sustainable Agriculture Program. Upon graduation, he began a half acre market garden to sell sustainably grown produce to local farmers markets and restaurants. During this time, Ben’s interest in food expanded into the culinary world while working at Lost Province Brewing Company. Ben hopes to build on these skills during his time at The Little School while serving up delicious food.
